This summer, a man in our church started having severe headaches and pain in his face.
This fall, he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.
We don't know if he will live until Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day, or Easter.
But we do know where he's going.

Last Friday, a young man from our church called his wife to tell her didn't feel good and was going to bed.
When she got home - he had gone to be with Jesus.

This morning, I woke up, thinking about his widow.
Tonight is the visitation and funeral, and my heart breaks for her.
I thought about how quickly life can change.
I reminded everyone I talked to that they needed to hug their loved ones.

A little while ago, I started seeing reports of a school shooting in Connecticut.
Children.
Oh Lord, how can this be?
Another reminder of how quickly life can change.

Take heart.
We will have trouble.
He has overcome.
It's that promise that I am clinging to on a day like today.

Praying for all of those who are hurting today - and every day.
Come, Lord Jesus!
Amen!
