In Which I Announce Winner #1 and Prize #2

*   *   *  This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for your interest!   *   *   *

First of all, thanks to everyone who entered, and especially to those who are regular readers and took the time to make such kind comments - you made me blush. I'm glad that Busy Nothings is a little corner of the Internet that you enjoy and have found laughter and encouragement, and I hope that it continues as I get ready to enter my third year. I certainly didn't think I'd stick with it this long, but I've found it to be a fun little distraction from the everyday grind.

But enough of the chit chat, let's get down to the nitty gritty, shall we? I used Random.org to select the winner from the comments, and Random chose comment #12...

After counting out the comments (twice), comment #12 was made by Irish Carter of Dedicated 2 LIFE...

Congratulations Irish! Please leave me a comment with your email address and I'll be in touch for more info so I can get your box of goodies mailed out to you.

For those of you who didn't win, the fun is just beginning! Another week, another prize, so take heart and try again. This time, I'm offering a copy of what might just be my favorite cookbook that I own. I know that you have heard me talk about it here on the blog, and if you know me through Facebook, you're probably sick of hearing about the latest winning recipe that I tried.

But now it's your turn to own a copy of 300 Sensational Soups. This soup book has changed our winter dinner menu - for the better! I've always loved making big pots of soup when it starts to get chilly - shoot, even when we lived overseas in hot and humid locales, I could still be found making pots of comfort-food chicken noodle. At any rate, I was stuck on three recipes (chili, chicken noodle, and chicken tortilla) and even though they were good, we were tired of them.

While browsing around Pinterest earlier this year, I ran across a recipe for Lasagna Soup and thought the photo looked appetizing. The blog that the pin came from included her (slightly tweaked) recipe, as well as the original cookbook credit, so when the Lasagna soup was such a winner, I went on Amazon and ordered the cookbook. And then I ordered five more for gifts. It's THAT good.

Original photo and pinned recipe can be found at A Farm Girl Dabbles

And YOU have a chance to get a copy for FREE! Here's what you have to do to be entered to win...

*   *   *   *   *
Leave a comment on this blog post telling me about YOUR favorite soup recipe (if you want to include the actual recipe, feel free, but it's not required)

That's it. Pretty simple, eh? As always, feel free to share a link to this blog post on your Facebook or Twitter accounts, but you don't get any extra entries for doing it - you're simply sharing the love. This giveaway ends on Wednesday night (10/19) and the winner will be announced next Thursday (10/20) as well as Prize Package #3 (which I'm QUITE excited about!), so make sure you check back next week!

Congratulations again to you, Irish - I look forward to hearing from you soon! Thanks to all for a great start to my second blog-a-versary!

  5. Just got a new recipe for Loaded Baked Potato Soup (Carrot Top Mom blog--cute site). Fixed it tonight and my hubby said it was the best he had ever had! Also like Mom's chili recipe. For future reference and if I win this time, I'll call myself "Donut" rather than anonymous! Love ya!

  6. I'm a big fan of thick & hearty soups and stews versus the ones with very little in them. So in our house, chili is a huge hit and I make a minestrone that I love which is a great way to use up lots of excess veggies.

I'm also quite partial to chicken soup since we love rotisserie chicken and it's just a shame to throw away that yummy carcass without making something else tasty from it! ;)

Fun giveaway -- the recipe in that cookbook look amazing!

  14. Ok Carrie - I want to do the happy dance! I love soup, everyday summer and winter and inbetween. My fav for this week is a veggie soup with spinach...yummy. But also (very easy to make from scratch) a favorite is Tomato - good old stand by - but so much better than - sorry - campbells.

  19. Hey there! I discovered an amazing butternut soup recipe a few years ago, which is even easier since I have a stick-mix :). The secret seems to be the grated apple and juice and rind of one orange. I leave out the nutmeg though. Really really tasty, and simply uses milk, no cream - I can never understand why people want to make this kind of soup impossibly rich when it's amazing without cream.

It's summer now, so no more soup (aside from chilli) for a while... enjoy your winter soups! xx
