So, after looking at some other blogs, apparently the 100th post is supposed to be something exciting, but since I've only been blogging since mid-November, I just can't get that excited about it. I just happen to have a lot of nothing to say 5 days a week, so it's not that hard to get up to 100 posts pretty quickly. At any rate, Happy 100 Posts to Me! ;-)
Now, here's my tip...
Two weeks ago I mentioned HERE that both Peter and I were trying to lose weight - and seemed to be stuck. Apparently that "healthy" snack I suggested wasn't as healthy as I thought. Hmmmm. Anyway, last week I'd had enough and started searching online for a diet that would help us shed the extra pounds, and what we decided on was the new South Beach Diet. We started on Thursday of last week and by Monday morning Peter had lost almost 10 lbs. (which is normal in Phase 1). He was happy, I was happy (having lost around 2.5 lbs.), and neither of us were hungry. It was almost like a miracle! No grumpiness, no hunger pains, no longing for those carbs we can't have for another 8 days. If you want to know the details of how you can get started, here are a few links that have really helped us:

I'll keep you posted on how this goes. Now that we have a new goal (going to the beach this summer with the extended family), it was time to take steps towards making weightloss actually happen. In the meantime, Peter has been making some delightfully filling breakfasts for us, including scrambled eggs with shredded cheese, Canadian bacon, and sliced leeks. Mmmm, Mmmm good! :-) On Saturday morning I came out from the bedroom to find this plate of yumminess - complete with a heart cut from the Canadian bacon - waiting for me. I am so blessed.

C.S. Lewis once said, “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream." Dream BIG. After going "there and back again," The Hubs & I have created a home that is full of books, stimulating conversation, and the laughter of our five kids. We have been the recipients of Amazing Grace, and our life goals can be summed up in four words: Love God, love people.

Hi Carrie! Congrats on blog 100! It's a Monk-like milestone, to be sure!
ReplyDeleteThe South Beach diet reaps results! Usually faster for men then us...to be expected! About 7 years ago, John and I went on the Atkins diet and I finally lost the extra 15 lbs I had been carrying around for years. I stayed on it for 2 years, but then...retirement happened.
So now I'm back with the 15, or more like 17 extra pounds, and wondering if I should return to the low(er) carb diet. It's so much easier when you're working on it as a couple, so I think you and Peter will be very successful.
Your post encourages me to think again on this, and see what lovely, yummy things I can enjoy and still lose weight!
Thanks again for hitting the bullseye in my life! Linda
Congratulations on the 100th!
